Lake Sarah Baptist Church Vision and Mission
Vision: Lake Sarah Baptist Church exists to lead all generations into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.
Mission: Lake Sarah Baptist Church will best reach our vision by being a church that focuses on four purposes:
Gather: The Christian life is not a solitary practice. Scripture teaches that we are transformed in a community called the local church, we commit to serve one another (Ga 5:13), love each other (Jn 13:34-35), honor each other (Rm 12:10), accept each other (Rm 15:7), instruct each other (Rm 15:14), carry each other’s burdens (Ga 6:2), forgive each other (Ep 4:32), submit to each other (Ep 5:21), bear with each other (Co 3:13), teach each other (Co 3:16), encourage each other (1 Th 4:18), confess our failures to each other (Jm 5:16), pray for each other (Jm 5:16), live in harmony and unity with each other (1 Pt 4:8), use our Spiritual gifts in the building up of each other (1 Pt 4:10), offer hospitality to each other (1 Pt 4:9), admonish each other (Co 3:16), and spur each other on to love and good deeds (Hb 10:25).
We are devoted to unity within the Church, desiring to practice the “one another’s” of scripture, and pursue peace living in forgiveness, love, and forbearance with each other.
Glorify: The Christian life is one of worship of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit (one God three persons). We glorify God in music (Ps 96). But we also bring him praise in everything we say and do when we work in the power and presence of his Spirit (1 Co 10:31; Co 3:17).
We long to glorify God, understanding worship is not limited to Sunday’s or even a building, but something that followers of Jesus can do in word, action, and all of life.
Grow: The Christian life is a life, as a result it is meant to grow and mature (Rm 12:1-2; Hb 6:1-2; 1 Pt 2:2; 2 Pt 3:18). We can do this by learning, submitting to and applying God’s word (the Bible) (Jm 1:22-25; Jos 1:8), using our Spiritual gifts (Ep 4:11-16).
We desire to become fully mature in Christ, understanding and applying God’s word (the Bible) to life, and pursuing unity and ministering to each other with the gifts and talents we have from God.
Go: The Christian life is meant to be shared. We are meant to be followers of Jesus who, in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, make other followers of Jesus, teaching God’s word and immersing people not only in water, but in the presence and power of Christ (Mt 28:18-20; Mk 16:15-18; Lk 24:45-49; Jn 20:21-23; Ac 1:8)
We love all people from all backgrounds and all generations. Understanding that all are made in the image of God, are profoundly loved by Him, and that he desires an unbroken discipling relationship with them through His Son Jesus, we share the life-giving good news of Jesus with our world near and far.
At the heart of all we do and say are the “Great Commandment”, to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and the second is like it; to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mk 12:30-31), and the “Great Commission”, to Go into all the world making disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded (Mt 28:19-20).
